Pasta Bolognese with a Twist


  • 1 tbsp. olive oil

  • 1 lb. ground beef

  • ½ onion, diced

  • 1 garlic clove, roughly chopped

  • 8 oz. mushrooms, sliced

  • 8 oz. spinach, roughly chopped

  • 14 oz. can whole peeled tomatoes

  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste

  • 1 lb. pasta of your choice

  • Salt and pepper

  • Parmesan cheese, grated

  • In a large pan, heat the olive oil on medium-high until hot. Add beef, and season with salt and pepper. Cook, frequently breaking the meat apart, until browned. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirringly occasionally, until softened. Add mushrooms and spinach for a few minutes, until softened.

  • Add the pasta to a pot of salted boiling water and cook 4 to 6 minutes, or al dente. Turn of the heat. Reserve ½ cup of water, drain and return to the pot.

  • Add tomato paste and cook, stirringly frequently, 2 to 3 minutes, or until thoroughly combined. Add peeled tomatoes and ¼ cup of water, and season with salt and pepper. Cook, occasionally stirring until the sauce is thickened.

  • Add the Bolognese to the cooked pasta. Cook stirring until the pasta is coated. If the pasta seems dry, you can add some of the reserved pasta water.

  • Serve with parmesan cheese and Cielito Mio Gourmet Salsa with Dried Chiles, and enjoy the kick that will be added!


  • You can add your favorite vegetables to this recipe.

  • You can also add Cielito Mio Gourmet Salsa with Dried Chiles when you add the peeled tomatoes for a spicier version.
